Megtraco Kenya supplies multilayer pipe fittings for LPG and gas installations — press fittings, compression fittings, adaptors and manifolds for PEX-AL-PEX multilayer pipe systems.

Multilayer pipe has become the fastest way to run indoor gas pipework. An aluminium core between polyethylene layers gives it the gas barrier and shape retention of metal with the flexibility and speed of plastic — it bends by hand, holds the bend, and needs far fewer joints than rigid copper across a long run. Fewer joints means fewer potential leak points.

Fitting Types

  • Press fittings — crimped with a calibrated press tool to make a permanent, tested joint. The professional standard for concealed and buried-in-wall runs.
  • Compression fittings — mechanical joints tightened with spanners, suitable for accessible connections and repairs.
  • Elbows, tees and reducers — full range of directional and branch fittings
  • Male and female threaded adaptors — BSP threads to connect multilayer to valves, regulators and appliances

Sizes

16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm, matched to the corresponding multilayer pipe. Pipe and fittings must be the same system — mixing manufacturers’ pipe and fittings is a common cause of joint failure.

Are multilayer fittings safe for LPG?

Yes, when the pipe and fittings are gas-rated PEX-AL-PEX from a matched system and installed with the correct tool. The aluminium layer provides the gas barrier. Do not use plumbing-grade multilayer intended for water on gas.

Press or compression — which should I use?

Press fittings for concealed and permanent work; they produce a stronger, tamper-proof joint. Compression where the joint remains accessible or may need future disassembly.

Can I mix brands of pipe and fittings?

No. Dimensional tolerances differ between manufacturers and a mismatched joint may pass initial testing then leak later. Always keep pipe and fittings within one system.
