Description

Megtraco Kenya supplies LPG ball valves and gas shut-off valves for domestic, commercial and industrial gas installations across Kenya. Every valve we stock is rated for liquefied petroleum gas service, pressure-tested before dispatch, and supplied with the thread standard your installation requires.

A ball valve is the primary isolation point in any LPG system. It lets an engineer shut off gas flow instantly at the tank, at a manifold, or at an appliance — which is why valve quality is a safety decision, not a price decision. Valves that are not LPG-rated can seize, leak at the stem, or fail under pressure cycling.

LPG Ball Valve Range

  • Brass LPG ball valves — ¼″ to 2″, forged brass body, PTFE seat. The standard choice for domestic and light commercial pipework.
  • Carbon steel ball valves — 2″ and above, for bulk tank isolation and industrial manifolds.
  • Stainless steel ball valves — corrosive environments, coastal installations, and food-grade process lines.
  • Anti-static ball valves — fitted with a static-discharge spring between ball and stem. Required on bulk LPG storage and tanker filling points.
  • Three-way ball valves — for manifold changeover between duty and standby cylinder banks.
  • Lockable ball valves — padlockable lever for isolation during maintenance or lockout/tagout.

Specifications

  • Sizes: ¼″, ⅜″, ½″, ¾″, 1″, 1¼″, 1½″, 2″, and larger to order
  • Thread standards: BSP (parallel and taper) and NPT
  • Working pressure: up to 40 bar depending on size and body material
  • Temperature range: −20°C to +80°C
  • Seat material: PTFE / reinforced PTFE
  • Operation: quarter-turn lever, full bore

Where LPG Ball Valves Are Used

Ball valves appear at every isolation point in a properly engineered LPG system: at the bulk tank outlet, on each leg of a cylinder manifold, at the entry to a building riser, at each floor tee in a reticulated apartment block, and immediately upstream of every appliance. Kenyan regulations require an accessible isolation valve at each appliance connection — an inspector will look for it.

We supply valves for restaurants and hotel kitchens, apartment gas reticulation, bakeries and food processing plants, forklift fuel systems, and bulk LPG storage installations.

Why Buy LPG Valves From Megtraco

Megtraco has supplied and installed gas equipment in Kenya since 1969. We are EPRA licensed and KEBS certified. Every valve is sourced from manufacturers that certify LPG service — we do not sell general-purpose water or air valves for gas duty, which is a common and dangerous substitution in the local market.

If you are unsure which size or thread standard your installation needs, send us a photo of the existing fitting on WhatsApp and our engineers will confirm the correct part before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of an LPG gas valve in Kenya?

Price depends on size and body material. Brass domestic valves in ½″ and ¾″ are the most affordable; larger carbon steel and anti-static valves for bulk installations cost more. Contact Megtraco with your size and application for a current quotation — we price per installation rather than publishing a list price, because thread standard and pressure rating change the part required.

Can I use an ordinary ball valve for LPG?

No. Water and pneumatic ball valves use seals that degrade when exposed to LPG and its odorant. They also lack the stem sealing and fire-safe design required for gas. Always use a valve certified for LPG service.

What is an anti-static LPG valve and do I need one?

An anti-static valve includes a conductive spring linking the ball to the valve body and stem, so static charge generated by flowing gas is discharged safely to earth rather than accumulating. They are required on bulk storage, tanker filling points and any installation where large volumes flow. For domestic pipework a standard LPG-rated valve is sufficient.

BSP or NPT — which thread do I need?

Most LPG pipework in Kenya uses BSP threads. NPT appears on imported American equipment and some forklift and industrial fittings. The two are not interchangeable; forcing an NPT fitting into a BSP port will produce a joint that leaks. If you are unsure, photograph the existing thread and send it to us.

Do you deliver LPG valves outside Nairobi?

Yes. We dispatch countrywide via courier and have supplied installations in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri and Thika. Order via WhatsApp or the enquiry form and we will confirm delivery time to your location.
